A September afternoon apple picking adventure

For the past year I have wanted to go apple picking, but by the time I thought about it last Fall, the apples were all done for. So this year I was on top of things and have been calling to see when the first batch of apples are ready, before all the schools take their kiddos out to snatch them all up! The first weekend of September here in Oklahoma turned out to be absolutely beautiful outside, with highs in the mid 80s, so the weather was perfect for our first apple picking trip! There are not an abundance of orchards here in Oklahoma, but the few we have are so good! Austin and I picked a batch of Jonathan's and grabbed some homemade apple butter (SO GOOD). I want to go back when the Gala apples are ready and make some applesauce and apple butter of my own.  If we would have thought ahead, we would have taken a picnic lunch, but maybe next time! Hoping to make this little trip a tradition!

Glad we were able to have some fun this Labor Day Weekend, school is about to get crazy, as exams start coming in waves next week - and then don't really stop until Christmas. Hope you all were able to relax this weekend as well!
